We just finished up our monthly call with the researchers. 1. They will begin building more work units over the next month or so. This means the next batch of work units is more than a month out. We'll let everyone know if there will be beta testing for these new units, but there has been no discussion about that during these meetings. 2. The team discussed other proteins they're interested analyzing in the future. 3. Dr. Nakagawara and Dr. Chan recently attended a conference on pediatric oncology in Asian countries. The conference speakers and attendees discussed the need for improved treatments for childhood cancers in these countries (and globally), as well as what they can do to strengthen and accelerate research. Thank you very much ! |

Just wrapped up our monthly call with the research team. A few important topics came up:
1. We will be running new work units through beta testing--stay tuned for an announcement about this once we're ready to begin. 2. There was more discussion about promising proteins and which cancers they are important in. We'll discuss this more once the research team has analyzed additional data. 3. They will soon begin lab testing on a few of the compounds that showed promise in the simulated experiments run on World Community Grid. This process will take awhile--at least a number of months. 4. They discussed again some ideas to help strengthen and accelerate research on childhood cancer in other institutions throughout the world. |

Thanks so much Caitlin for this mini-update!
----------------------------------------Good news for the beta test! Can't wait to crunch again on this subproject |

Rerun some of the older ones? Optimize & speed up the research? What do we expect to have after BETA? What we expect to have ro research & considering the ECD of SCC? |

Concerning this BETA test here:

(waiting still) As it was previously said, it's a BETA for new workunits. "1. Edit: And I just read this, which answers your question: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,41682 AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 4C/8T 3.2 GHz - 85W AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W Intel Z3740 4C/4T 1.8 GHz - 6W [Edit 1 times, last edit by Falconet at Jun 18, 2019 8:53:03 AM] |

We just wrapped up our monthly call with the research team.
----------------------------------------1. Beta testing of the new work units has gone well. We'll make an announcement when we're ready to re-start the project (we believe this will happen within the next couple of weeks). 2. The new work units will analyze a protein called Osteopontin-b. Mutations in this protein may be significant in the development of a number of different cancers. 3. The researchers continued their discussion of several other proteins that they may explore in the future. We'll announce these once the team has made a decision. 4. They're continuing to prepare to start lab testing of additional compounds. (As mentioned in a previous update, this process can take a few months.) One of the labs they're working with just moved to another facility. [Edit 1 times, last edit by caitilarkin at Jul 11, 2019 6:48:48 PM] |
